Japan Photography Tours

Arashiyama, Kyoto - Bamboo Grove

Arashiyama, Kyoto - Bamboo Grove

led by Pro Photographer Alfonso Calero - fluent in Japanese.

Landscape Photography is our main focus for all my itineraries. When in the big cities like Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto and Kanazawa we will explore street portraits and nightscapes as well.

In our free time we will also learn some advanced editing techniques using photoshop and lightroom.

All levels of experience are very welcome. Since we are in very small groups I will have time to teach you individually.

Smartphone Photographers Welcome!

Alfonso Calero

Japan is my second home. Having lived here for over 4 years and married to a Japanese, I am absolutely in love with this country. My Japanese family and friends have taught me so much about the culture and traditions.

Aside from a very authentic experience, my itineraries have a mix of rural and urban. A steady pace of exciting city night-scapes or slow country life. Choose your season and let me show you my passion for travel photography on this learning adventure.

Ritsuko Calero

Born and raised in Tokyo. Married to Alfonso + 25 years. Admin Assistant/researcher for the company as well as Japan Photography Tours' assistant/interpreter aka "Sheepdog," always watching our customers' safety during the busy photo shoots.

Aside from this work, she is an education tour guide in Sydney, Ritsuko has been running excursion programs to teach school children history and archaeology for 15 years.

She is also a Sumi-e (Japanese ink painting) artist and a qualified origami instructor. Loves mobile photography and editing.

5 stars! I cant say enough how much I enjoyed and learned from a Japan photo tour I took with Alfonso in the spring 2017. Alfonso is an award winning travel photographer and is also a very serious teacher.
